day out with my aunties

My mom and my aunts came to visit this fall. All of them are big fans of the movie "Maudie" so I took them to the AGNS to see her preserved home. It's really inspiring as an artist. We're hoping to buy a home in this coming year, and I want to be really creative with how we decorate and really make it our own.

There's no real reason you can't do whatever you want with the walls of your home. I think it's a shame more people don't just paint them however they like.

We also went to some antique stores and the public gardens.

I find that it's not until I have guests visiting me do I realize what a wonderful place I live in. This past year, I've holed myself up at home a lot to cope with dad's death and everything else that happened around it. In 2023, I really hope to get out more and try to enjoy the delights of my country.

We also spent a day in Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. I have never been to Lunenburg despite spending a total of 7 years in this province, which is a little embarrassing. We were lucky -- we showed up on the day of the last voyage of the Bluenose II.

Mahone Bay was having a scarecrow festival while we were there. To be honest, a lot of the scarecrows were super creepy, and not in an intentional way. The faces were overpainted to be realistic, but they still had lumpy scarecrow bodies. It took things into the uncanny valley.
The Rosie Riveter was especially creepy. What is up with those hands?

It gave off the same vibe as Andy's Dummies, another local treasure/horror show. Sadly, Andy died a few years back and the Dummy Farm has closed. If you've never heard of it before, check it out: https://www.uer.ca/forum_showthread.asp?fid=1&threadid=128568&currpage=1&pp#post5
I wore my new dress from Foxgloves. I think the cut is really cute, but I feel like it's verging into vintage fashion moreso than lolita.
